Where Can I Fish?

Over the years, the Pirtek Fishing Challenge has strived to provide the best opportunities for competitors to fish their local area.

The Challenge provides state-based and non-state-based categories, and this can become a little confusing when boundaries overlap. So here is a summary of where you can fish in each state.

Just click on the name of the state in which you will be fishing on the day of the Challenge.

NSW / ACT

There are five saltwater state species, plus you may also fish for freshwater species in the Murray-Darling Basin (western anglers), Great Dividing Range (mountain anglers) and East Coast Freshwater categories. In total, there are 11 species for NSW/ACT.

If you live in the ACT you can travel to the coast and fish for the saltwater target species or the East Coast freshwater fish. The ACT is also in the middle of the Murray Darling Basin and Great Dividing Range categories.

Northern Territory

All of the Northern Territory, plus northern WA is covered by the Top End category. There are two target species in the Top End category this year, one salt/freshwater fish and one saltwater fish.

Queensland

There are three saltwater state species and one salt/fresh water fish. Plus you may also fish for freshwater species in the Murray-Darling Basin, Great Dividing Range, and East Coast Freshwater categories. In total, there are 10 species for Queensland.

South Australia
