It’s been a few years, but we’ve brought back the Open Category.
The Open category covers all of Australia, including rivers, estuaries and open water.
The target species varies from state-to-state for the Open Category, so check the Where Can I Fish page for details. But target species include:
- Australian Salmon
- Barred Grunter/Javelin Fish
- Redfin
The Open Category guidelines are:
- The target species for the Open category will be fish caught in any public river, estuary or Australian open waters.
- Competitors can upload one photograph per target species for the competition.
- Fish entered in this category are nominated as Open and not State specific.
- Private dams and impoundments are strictly excluded from the Pirtek Fishing Challenge.
